A Templar shield from Justin Kurzel's 2016 video game adaptation Assassin's Creed.

In the film, convicted Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) explores the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha and gains the skills of a Master Assassin with the Sevilla Brotherhood before he does battle against the secret Templar order.

Templar soldiers held their shields in multiple scenes through the film as they pursued Aguilar and Maria (Ariane Labed). A Templar shield is also seen as part of a display of ancient weapons in Rikkin’s (Jeremy Irons) office.

Made from resin, the ‘heater’ shaped shield has been finished in black and features the red Holy Cross of the Templar Order. The outside edges of the shield have been finished in faux-silver with ‘rivet’ detailing to replicate the appearance of metal. A foam pad has been added to the centre back of the shield for the actor’s protection during action scenes and the back has been covered in black leather. Two leather arm straps and a matching adjustable strap are all attached allowing the shield to easily be handled during filming.

Intentionally distressed to look worn for the production, the shield features some scuffs and flaking of the paint finish. However, in spite of this wear it remains in overall good condition.
