”We neither created them nor destroyed them. We merely abandoned them to their own inexorable fate.”

Nathan’s (Callum Turner) stunt wrist crossbow from Justin Kurzel’s 2016 video game adaptation Assassin’s Creed.

Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is submitted to an experiment involving the Animus - a machine that has been developed to relive genetic memories - and discovers he is a descendant of the mysterious Assassins. Experiencing the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, he helps the Assassins take on the tyrannical Templars and search for the ‘Apple of Eden’.

Nathan used his crossbow wristblade in scenes towards the movie’s climax when he and other prisoners fought Abstergo security guards alongside Lynch in the Animus hall. He wore the weapon on the inside of his wrist and fired a small bolt into a guard’s forehead from it.

This stunt model would have been used for shots where closeups or live fire were not required. The actor would have worn this ‘closed’ version of the crossbow while performing other actions. Made from resin painted to resemble steel, the stunt crossbow is roughly rectangular with angled edge detail and a raised centre where bolts would sit against the catch. Two limbs are folded along either side at the front – these are movable and painted to resemble wood. Ornate filigree and metalwork-style detail decorates each surface of the weapon.

Styled to appear authentically worn and old, the piece shows some chips and scratches from production use. The crossbow limbs are fragile, although can be moved on their hinges with care. Overall the crossbow remains in good condition.

Materials: Resin.
