A lion- and zigzag-patterned shield from Justin Kurzel's 2016 video game adaptation Assassin's Creed.

Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is submitted to an experiment involving the Animus - a machine that has been developed to relive genetic memories - and discovers he is a descendant of the mysterious Assassins. Experiencing the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, he helps the Assassins take on the tyrannical Templars and search for the 'Apple of Eden'.

Templar guards carried their lion and zigzag shields in several scenes, notably while marching to protect Torquemada (Javier GutiÃ©rrez).

This roughly rectangular shield features a horizontal top and pointed lower end, completed by a raised black border inset with bolts. It has been painted with wide white zigzags inset with four rampant black lions and interspersed with narrower red zigzags. The centre features a raised panel for stability and comfort. On the reverse it is overlaid with brown felt, where a thick leather strap has been attached with four bolts and knotted together for securing to the bearer's arm.

The shield has been heavily distressed to create an aged, battle-scarred appearance for production. The paint finish is chipped and scratched, with faded worn areas across the front, and notches and marks around the outer border. The inner felt has become slightly unglued at the edges and appears worn along with the arm strap. Overall the item remains in good production-used condition.
