A set of tools from Justin Kurzel’s adventure film Assassin’s Creed. When Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is submitted to an experiment involving the Animus, a machine that has been developed to relive genetic memories, he soon discovers he is a descendant of the mysterious society, the Assassins. Experiencing the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, the Assassins take on the tyrannical Templars and search for the relic that is, the ‘Apple of Eden’.
This set of tools were used as part of the set at the beginning of the film when Aguilar is tasked with stopping the Templars and recites the Assassin’s Creed. Aguilar’s ring finger is chopped off by Benedicto (Carlos Bardem) in a ritual performed in front of the Assassin’s brotherhood.
The set is comprised of two finger removal tools, two small ‘stone’ mounts and a removal block. The two finger removal tools have resin handles that have cast-in elaborate detailing and circular shaped metal caps attached at each end. The blades on the tools are made from metal and differ in their shape and the finish on the handle. The two-bladed finger removal tool is seen on screen and the finish on the handle looks more finished then the one-bladed tool. The bigger ‘barrel’ shaped removal block is also made from resin, with a wood effect and features strips of faux-gold and neutral toned cast-in patterns, which match the handles on both removal tools. The top of the mount has an opening where the blades of the removal tools slot into. Uneven in shape, the two smaller mounts are also made from resin and look like stone, with grey and brown paint applied to add detail. A loose brown powder resembling ‘dirt’ features on top of one of the mounts, fitting in with the cave setting where the Assassin’s assemble at the start of the film.
Distressed for use in production, this set of tools remains in very good, production used condition.
