A Big Bob Tarantula Puppet from Frank Marshall's 1990 horror film, Arachnophobia. In the film, an unidentified species of spider makes its way from the Amazon to a small town in California, where it breeds a new strain of deadly spiders. This puppet was used as a stand-in for Big Bob, the male Amazon spider who breeds a colony in the home of Ross Jennings (Jeff Daniels).
This spider puppet is made by Chris Walas Industries from foam latex over a metal frame. The legs used to be fully adjustable, allowing for a number of poses, however due to the age of the foam, the material has since hardened and broken in some areas (see photos). The spider has been painted purple and brown, and decorated with hand punched fur.
Due to production use and age, this item features some wear to the foam latex leaving in good, yet fragile condition.
