King Henry VIII’s (Richard Burton) Tudor robe from Charles Jarrott’s 1969 historical drama Anne of the Thousand Days.

This costume was made for the production and Henry can be seen wearing his robe when discussing what to do with Anne (Geneviève Bujold) with Thomas Cromwell (John Colicos). The robe is floor length and features a large faux-wool collar and has brown patterning all over. As the piece was made specially for the production it doesn’t feature any size labelling, however it does feature a tag from a previous auction indicating that it was provided to the film by the costumiers ‘Angels’.

The costume has some wear from production use and age, including some minor tearing on the inside. The bottom of the robe, where it has dragged across the floor, has become soiled and stained but overall the piece remains in an excellent condition.
