Ellen Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) and Gary Christie's (Gary Dourdan) screen- and photo-matched light-up Draco Double Burner flamethrower from Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Alien Resurrection. Christie armed himself with a Draco from fallen USM soldiers as he and the rest of the Betty crew attempted to flee the xenomorph-infested Auriga. Later, Ripley 8 used a Draco to burn various failed Ripley clones in the Auriga labs. Distinctive points of wear along the body of this flamethrower screen-match to when Christie and the Betty crew encountered Ripley after the containment breach. Additionally, the flamethrower matches to a production still of Ripley holding after destroying her fellow Ripley clones.
A practical "incinerator" version of the multi-functional AR-2 assault rifle, the Draco Double Burners were designed by production designer Nigel Phelps and built entirely from scratch, in contrast to weapons from previous Alien films which were built around existing firearms.
This flamethrower is constructed from metal and rubber with valve nuts attached to the bottom of the stock and a webbed nylon carrying strap. It features a working electronic ammunition counter fitted at the top of the receiver which is powered by a 9V battery within the upper barrel. The readout counts down when the lower trigger is pulled.
To create the pilot flame effect, gas was piped into a tube that ran through the length of the weapon to the nozzle beneath the top barrel. A Surefire tactical light, activated by a switch built into the body of the weapon, is fitted into the weapon's front grip. This flamethrower has undergone sympathetic restoration, updating its tip slightly from the version seen onscreen. It exhibits chipped paint. Dimensions: 43" x 8.25" x 13.5" (109 cm x 21 cm x 34 cm)
Contains electrical components; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: $20,000 - 40,000
