An alien skull cap from the production of Alien Nation, a television show that ran for 22 episodes between 1989 – 1990.

An alien ship crashes into the Mojave Desert and its inhabitants assimilate into the human population, living alongside them. George Francisco (Eric Pierpoint) is a police officer and ‘Newcomer’, who partners up with a human, Matthew Sikes (Gary Graham), and together they solve crimes and learn about each other’s cultures.

Each ‘alien’ in the series has distinct dark markings on their otherwise bald heads. This skull cap would have been worn by an actor playing one of the Newcomers. Made of foam latex, it completely covers the head and ears, leaving the face uncovered.

Inside the head there is a production note written in black marker, which would have helped those on set identify which actor or extra was meant to be wearing the cap and in which scene.

There is some minor wear from production use and age, with some of the latex flaking off around the edges, but despite this it remains in an otherwise excellent condition.
