Ellen Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) prison uniform with stunt pants from David Fincher's Alien³. After she was rescued from her crashed escape pod, Ripley wore her signature prison uniform for the duration of the film, and notably, with her jacket throughout most of the second half of the film.
Upon release, Alien³ received a number of accolades, including nominations for an Academy Award® for Best Visual Effects and a prestigious Hugo Award® for Best Dramatic Presentation. Weaver's third portrayal of the now-classic heroine Ellen Ripley earned her Saturn Award® and Fangoria Chainsaw Award® nominations for Best Actress.
Alien³ was director David Fincher's feature film debut, introducing the incredibly bleak and gritty style that he'd become famous for with later films like Se7en and Fight Club. Unlike the first two Alien films, which held to the classic convention that the "final girl" must survive, Fincher's darker third entry into the series completely shattered that mold by killing off everyone. Not only did the film essentially undo the ending of Aliens by killing off survivors Newt (Carrie Henn), Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn), and Bishop (Lance Henriksen) - a move that proved hugely divisive amongst fans - but even Ripley herself met her demise in the film's finale. While Alien Resurrection would introduce a clone of Ripley, known as Ripley 8 (also Weaver), this film was the final appearance of the original Ripley, which makes this the main costume of the series' main character in her final franchise appearance.
Faded and production-distressed to emphasise the stark prison setting, this ensemble consists of a brown uniform jacket marked "Ripley," a matching cotton shirt, pants marked "S Doubles Ripley 2," and black leather combat boots marked "7 Ripley." The oversize T-shirt displays the Weyland-Yutani logo printed across its back. The cotton jacket has a stitched cross-pattern design that continues across the garment's body over the hood. This lot exhibits minor yellow stains on the boots.
