An original multi-layer production cel on a key hand-painted production background and matching production drawings featuring Abu and Iago from Walt Disney's television series Aladdin.

While the 1992 Aladdin feature film utilised CAPS, Disney's Computer Animation Production System, to digitally colour its animation, the TV series retained the traditional method: hand-drawn pencil animation, followed by inking and painting on acetate cels. This setup showcases that process fully, with visible colour line inking on the cel surface and carefully painted detail on the reverse.

Multi-cel arrangements like this allowed for depth and motion to be created economically and efficiently; in this case, the overlapping character elements and coins could be animated independently without redrawing the full composition.

Comprised of five hand-painted cel layers placed over an original key hand-painted production background, this setup is a rare survival from the era. It presents a lively, screen-used moment featuring two of Disney's most expressive supporting characters, Abu and Iago.

Completing the lot are five drawings that match the production, scene, and frame numbers. Some of the drawings feature studio annotations, including colour callouts. The five cels and drawings bear the original Walt Disney Television Animation seals, verifying their route to market through the studio's official art programme. The lot is accompanied by a The Walt Disney Company certificate of authenticity. There are small patches of paint wear on the background and some minor marks on the cels.
