An articulated stand-in Thing (Christopher Hart) hand from the production of Barry Sonnenfeld's Addams Family Values. Thing, a friend and companion to the Addamses for many years, helped support the family throughout the film. In a deleted scene, Thing operated a film projector at Uncle Fester's (Christopher Lloyd) stag party, before Fester married his bride, Debbie Jellinsky (Joan Cusack), the scheming, murderous Black Widow. Designed as a posable, articulated stand-in, this version of Thing was created for a deleted scene that could be found in the film's script.
Originating from a crew member and created for the sequence but ultimately unseen in the final cut, this foam latex hand comes molded around a metal armature, painted peach-colour with pink nails, and mounted via an acrylic base to a custom display featuring a film reel with unspooling celluloid. The latex exhibits minor cracking and grime from production use and age, as well as hardened foam latex. Dimensions: (display) 23 cm x 23 cm x 25.5 cm (9" x 9" x 10")
