A Fokker Eindecker E.III flying model miniature from Jack Gold's World War I movie Aces High. The film tells the story of young British fighter aces in the early days of aerial combat during the Great War.
The flying combat scenes were achieved using a combination of a full-size static plane against a blue screen, full-size flying fighters, and large-scale radio-controlled miniatures. Two of these miniatures were scratch-built by the legendary aircraft model maker Mick Charles and his team of radio-control flyers, and this particular Fokker monoplane model was used for exterior flying sequences. While the remote-control unit no longer accompanies the plane, some of the mechanisms, including servos, are still present and serviceable for potential future mechanical use.
The plane is constructed primarily from balsa wood, polystyrene and aluminium, and a model-miniature pilot sits in the cockpit. The lot has been painted and intentionally distressed to look well used. It remains in impressive condition despite its extensive use on production and its age.
