A paperweight created as a place setting for the 11th annual Academy Awards®. Held February 23, 1939 at Los Angeles' Biltmore Hotel, the ceremony was among the most historic in cinema history, where Walt Disney received a special award for his furthering of film animation with "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and where George Bernard Shaw became the first Nobel Prize® laureate to also win an Academy Award® for writing "Pygmalion."

Designed to resemble the iconic Oscar® statuettes designed by MGM art director Cedric Gibbons, this gold-plated metal paperweight was created as a themed place setting for the ceremony. The base of the paperweight is engraved "Eleventh Academy Awards - Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences." It exhibits some flaking to its gold finish and rusting to the metal beneath from age, as well as a small crack in the base. Dimensions: 2.5" x 2.5" x 3" (6.5 cm x 6.5 cm x 7.75 cm)
