A light-up weight from the production of Stephen Spielberg’s 2001 science fiction film A.I Artificial Intelligence.
The film follows David (Haley Joel Osment), a highly advanced robotic boy, who hopes to become a real boy to regain the love of his human mother.
The green versions of these weights can be clearly seen in the film, as part of the nets fired at the rogue Mechas. This occurs when they are being rounded up for the ‘flesh fair.’ The technology inside the weights enabled the hunters to deactivate them at the same time. The piece is made from a metal frame covered in silicone, and lights up using bright blue LEDs inside. These can be turned on using a pin inserted into a small hole on the bottom. This version has a metal rod at one end with a small karabiner and a vicious sharp spike at the other end. The purpose of this was most likely meant for a close up shot, which showed how dangerous they were.
There are a few scratches and marks on the piece, but it remains in otherwise good production-used condition.
Materials: Silicone, Ferrous Metals.
