Al Jourgenson’s band leader skull mask from Stephen Spielberg’s sci-fi movie A.I Artificial Intelligence.

The film follows David (Haley Joel Osment), a highly advanced robotic boy, who hopes to become a real boy to regain the love of his human mother.

A skull mask was worn by Jourgenson, singer of the band Ministry, who performed at the “Flesh Fair”. At the event, Mecha robots were destroyed for the amusement of anti-mecha audiences, and the band’s harsh sounds provided the ideal sonic backdrop for the carnage.

Industrial music pioneers Ministry were personally chosen for A.I. by Stanley Kubrick after he heard a crew member playing one of their albums on the set of his 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut. Kubrick was also quoted as saying that he liked the band because of their use of audio samples from his 1987 movie Full Metal Jacket in their 1989 song "Thieves".

The mask is made from fibreglass and has been finished with a chrome faux-silver finish, with prominent detailing present around the teeth. Soft fabric has been applied to the interior of the mask for comfort and a black elastic strap has been tied to both sides.

Displaying some wear to the finish and marks on the front from production use, the skull mask remains in very good condition.
