Maxim "Max" Brailovsky's (Elya Baskin) spacesuit with a screen-matched chest box from Peter Hyams' 2010: The Year We Make Contact. Russian cosmonaut Brailovsky wore his spacesuit when he and Walter Curnow (John Lithgow) spacewalked on the soot-covered Discovery. The unique scratching on the chest box matches to when they hooked onto Discovery's hull to board the derelict craft.

This Soviet spacesuit features a cotton-padded vinyl top with a fiberglass collar; canvas gloves; cotton padded vinyl pants hand-marked "Max No. 2" and "Dirty Cleaned"; and canvas and rubber boots. The top of the spacesuit features metal and plastic components, including a chest box with buttons and toggle switch, and life support pack on the back. Production intentionally distressed the spacesuit to appear soot-covered.

Also included is a plastic American-style helmet that was painted to match the Soviet spacesuit, and would have been worn separately from the American spacesuit. This lot exhibits flaked vinyl, chipped paint, discoloration, scratches, missing buttons, fabric tears, and a crack in the helmet visor.
