A "Dawn of Man" ape mask from Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi epic 2001: A Space Odyssey. This mask was made for the "Dawn of Man" prologue sequence, renowned for its incredibly realistic make-up and facial appliances. This integral piece of movie history was constructed by the eminent Stuart Freeborn, whose astonishing work on 2001: A Space Odyssey led to him creating such popular movie characters as Yoda and Chewbacca in the Star Wars trilogy.

Made of foam latex, the mask is displayed upon a clear plastic facial mould and comes with a silicon ape ear and was originally acquired directly from Stuart Freeborn. The mask shows degradation but, considering its age, remains in excellent condition. Dimensions: 28 cm x 18 cm x 17 cm (11" x 7" x 6 3/4")
