Propstore is thrilled to offer this rare hand-drawn illustration by artist Robert McCall. This artwork represents an early concept that eventually evolved into the "Style C" one sheet for Stanley Kubrick's iconic science fiction film. Created with graphite and ink, the piece also features a pasted blurb crediting the director, making it a close representation of the final poster. The "Style C" poster was the only original release poster intended specifically for Cinerama theaters, while the other two versions were printed for either 70mm or Cinerama. This lot includes a letter from the artist's daughter, which details its provenance.

"2001: A Space Odyssey," directed by Stanley Kubrick and co-written with Arthur C. Clarke, follows astronauts and HAL 9000 on a mission to Jupiter to investigate a mysterious alien monolith. Renowned for its realistic space depiction, groundbreaking effects, and music-driven storytelling, it features classical pieces by Strauss, Khachaturian, and Ligeti.
