A Carousel Horse from Steven Spielberg’s war comedy, 1941. The film follows several zany servicemen as they prepare for a possible Japanese attack on the California coast and features a cast full of comedic legends such as John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, and John Candy. A carousel with horses like this one appears during the film’s climax in which a Japanese submarine opens fire on a carnival.
This horse is constructed of molded foam and is mounted on a round wooden display stand. This horse was hand painted with bright colors to give it a classic carnival feel.
The piece does feature some wear due to production use and storage, including two cracked and repaired ankles, but remains in otherwise good condition.
