Yellow Submarine

The Beatles "Nowhere Man" Animation Cel Set

Stock #94911

”There must be a word for what he is.”

A rare and exciting animation cel set from the beautifully psychedelic Yellow Submarine, the 1968 animation classic celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this month.

The Beatles agree to help Captain Fred in his Yellow Submarine, to fight off the music hating Blue Meanies and free Pepperland from their grip.

This animation cel set is of the Fab Four at the beginning of the song Nowhere Man, the song they sing about Jeremy Hilary Boob, PhD, a strange creature they meet in the Sea of Nothing. The cels are of Ringo, George and Paul as they walk away from each other, clapping and singing. Each cel is of a slightly different point in scene so they do not entirely match up when laid over each other. Each cel has some handwritten production information at the bottom and the set comes with two pieces of tracing paper to protect the cells.

The pieces show minimal wear from use and age, with only minor tearing and creasing on the paper and some small flecks of yellow paint on the cel of Paul. Considering that the film is 50 years old this year, the cels are in excellent condition.

Materials: Paper, Acetate.
