A rare and exciting animation cel set from the beautifully psychedelic Yellow Submarine, the 1968 animation classic celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this month.
The Beatles agree to help Captain Fred in his Yellow Submarine, to fight off the music hating Blue Meanies and free Pepperland from their grip.
This animation cel set is of John Lennon dancing along to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, specifically during the first chorus and about halfway through the film itself. Consisting of two acetate sheets, one of the sheets displays a detailed outline of Lennon finely drawn in ink and the other is a vibrantly coloured hand painted silhouette. Both cels have ‘31’ handwritten in each corner. The set also comes with two pieces of tracing paper to protect the cels, with one sheet displaying the text ‘Lucy in the Sky Box 1’ handwritten in pencil on it.
The pieces show minimal wear from use and age, with only minor tearing on the tracing paper. Considering that the film is 50 years old this year, the cels are in excellent condition.
Materials: Paper, Acetate.
