Spike’s (Lance Gibson) Stunt Bone Spike from Brett Ratner’s comic book epic, X-Men: The Last Stand. In the film, tensions between the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants come to a head when scientists announce a controversial cure for the mutant gene. Taking the fight to them, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) storms the Brotherhood’s camp and is attacked by Spike, a mutant who can generate boney spikes on command to hurl at opponents. This is one of the spikes made to be hurled at Wolverine during this sequence.
This foam rubber spike was made to look organic, as though it were bone or antler. Its tan and brown paint scheme remains very much intact, but for some slight cracking near the base. The underside of the piece shows its inner foam material painted in a red tone, as if the spike bled slightly when it disconnected from the mutant’s bones.
The spike measures 9” x 1” (23cm x 3cm) and is in good, production used condition.
