Wrong Box, The

John Finsbury's (Dudley Moore) Striped Suit

Stock #94162

”Oh, I only knew mine vaguely. My father was a missionary. He was eaten by his Bible class.

John Finsbury's (Dudley Moore) striped suit from Bryan Forbes’ 1966 crime comedy The Wrong Box.

Set in Victorian England, a group of people try to keep two elderly brothers alive, with the one who can stay alive the longest standing to inherit a large fortune.

This double-breasted striped suit was worn in the film by John Finsbury (Moore), who is desperately trying to keep his irritating uncle Joseph (Ralph Richardson) alive. The suit consists of a light beige jacket and trousers with black pinstripes and white plastic buttons. The trousers feature buttons on the inside which are so the wearer can attach braces. The suit was made by ‘L&H Nathan, Ltd’ specially for Dudley Moore in the role and does not have any labelling indicating size. ‘Dudley Moore’ is written on the jacket label in pen.

This costume has some wear from production use and age, including some staining on the inside of the jacket. There is some plucking of the fabric and some loose threads, but considering the age of the piece it is excellent condition.

Materials: Man-Made Woven Fibres, Ferrous Metals, Plastic.
