Phil Tippett’s go-motion storyboards and notes from Ron Howard’s fantasy film Willow. These storyboards depict the sequence in the film when Willow (Warwick Davis) and Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) fought off the grotesque two-headed beast called the Eborsisk. The name is a portmanteau of famous film critics Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel. Phil Tippett brought the Eborsisk to life using go-motion animation, a technique he developed to make the movements of stop-motion creatures look more fluid and realistic.Tippett was nominated for Best Visual Effects for his work on this film at the 61st Academy Awards^®.

The illustrated storyboards are printed on letter-sized paper and bound in a blue pressboard report cover. A sticker on the cover reads, ‘Phil’s Go-motion Stuff,’ in blue marker. Most boards include a description of the action below the illustration, and many have a sticky note with additional notes, such as ‘Check for Fire’ and ‘RP – 5dys, BS – 3, Same as 33.’ Also included is a piece of legal pad paper notes handwritten in blue ink chronicling the battle between Raziel and Bavmorda. There are approximately 45 pages in this lot.

The storyboards show some wear due to production use and age, but the lot remains in very good condition. Dimensions: 11 ½” x 9” x ½” (29 cm x 23 cm x 1 cm)
