A full-size Death Dog puppet head from Ron Howard's fantasy adventure Willow. Death Dogs, loyal beasts of the evil Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh), were shaggy and fanged creatures that hunted down the peculiar baby Elora Danan, and raided Nelwyn village searching for her.
The Death Dogs were performed for the most part by highly trained Rottweilers wearing fur costumes and masks. This head has a moveable jaw and loose tongue to be controlled by a puppeteer for close-up shots. The lot comprises painted brown foam latex skin and soft foam layered over a resin skull. Thick dark brown faux fur with sections of incorporated woven straw covers the back of the head. It features pointed ears, a pair of glass eyes, a set of yellowed resin teeth displaying a glossy varnish finish, and a red foam latex tongue. There is some minor wear to the foam latex, and some hair strands are loose throughout. Dimensions: 48 cm x 32 cm x 28 cm (19" x 12½" x 11")
