War Horse

German Helmet & Strike Plate

Stock #67839

A German helmet worn in the production of the Steven Spielberg Oscar-nominated wartime drama War Horse. Raising the young colt Joey from a young age, Albert (Jeremy Irvine) is forced to part with the horse at the start of the First World War. The film tells the remarkable story of their reunion on the battlefields of France.

This helmet and others like it were worn by members of the German artillery as they moved guns through the mud and sludge during the March 1918 offensive, and later during the scenes in which the German soldiers see Joey caught in the wire. The helmet – a steel replica German helmet used for background soldiers – features a leather liner with the name “Ocean” written internally. A vinyl strike plate with a leather strap, designed to fit on the front of an M17 helmet, is present on front of the piece.

Featuring some dirt and wear from use on the muddy trench sets, the helmet remains in overall very good production-used condition.
