A Russian soldier hat from the 1965 romantic drama Doctor Zhivago.
The film follows the story of young doctor Yuri Zhivago (Omar Sharif) as he battles with his feelings for married Lara Antipova (Julie Christie), gets married to his cousin Tonya (Geraldine Chaplin) and how his life is disrupted by the First World War and then the Revolution.
Various styles of hats were worn by the large group of Russian soldiers as they returned in tatters from the war front. This particular hat was not seen in the final cut of the film.
The hat is made from brown mottled fabric with large turned up beige fleece-like material. A distinctive red stripe runs down the front and the piece is lined with navy blue cotton. The lining of the hat has frayed in some places, but the hat remains in very good condition for its age.
