Original Elois Jenssen Hand-Drawn Wardrobe Sketch

Stock #89648

An original costume concept sketch hand drawn by famed costume designer Elois Jenssen. Research has shown that this piece could have been designed for Lucille Ball for one of her many projects.

Working as the costume designer for Ball's beloved television series I Love Lucy, Jenssen would often create concept pieces such as these for Lucy's costumes. Though the design can be considered a bit formal for the character of Lucy, it's possible the sketch was conceptualized for a season 5 arc in which Lucy becomes more sophisticated.

The sketch could have also been designed for Ball for her 1956 film Forever, Darling. Jenssen also designed Ball's costumes for the film, and her character Susan wears many formal pieces of clothing.

The sketch is hand-drawn in pencil and ink and features 'Desilu 54' written on the left corner and Jenssen's signature toward the bottom right of the sketch. A letter of authenticity from Jenssen's estate is included with the piece. The sketch shows some wear such as creases and a tear but the piece is displayed in a mat board and remains in overall good condition.
