A Christmas card from American actor and political activist Charlton Heston and his family.

This brown card features a close-up black and white photo of a cherry blossom branch from Japan. The photo has been stuck onto the front of the card and hand-written in gold underneath the photo is the signature of Lydia Clarke Heston – Charlton Heston’s wife.

Lydia Clarke Heston was an actress and photographer, so the signature implies that she took this photograph. On the reverse of the card printed in gold is the message: ‘Merry Christmas from the Hestons Charlton, Lydia, Fraser, Marilyn and Holly.’ There are also details about the photograph on the front: ‘Springtime in Fukushima Japan, 1990.’

Handwritten in black pen at the bottom of the card is the message: ‘Wishing you the happiest Christmas and a terrific ’91, love Mare and Fraser xx.’ Fraser is the son of Charlton and Lydia Heston and ‘Mare’ suggests the nickname for Marilyn Heston, Fraser’s wife.

The card shows some wear from age and storage, including a few very minor marks and creases to the edge of the card. However, it remains in very good condition and would make an excellent keepsake for any fan of Charlton Heston or his family.
