This spear was used by a member of the Trojan cavalry led by the Prince Hector in the initial defence of the Trojan beaches. Made of metal, the spear was designed with an internal mechanism for the spearhead, with fins that fold inward into a central cylinder which can then be forced into the main shaft of the spear. A spring forces the head back out once pressure on the head has been released. The spear is finished to replicate the look of light-coloured wood with a bronze finish for the head. The shaft tapers at the end to form a spike perfect for planting in the ground when at rest.
Well used on set, the spear has lost some of its paint finish through use, with aluminium shining through scratches along the spear’s shaft. The mechanism for the spear head remains functional albeit somewhat stiff. Besides these minor flaws, however, the weapon remains in an otherwise good production-used condition, measuring 220cm (86.75”) in length.
