The Countess' (Pamela Salem) Hat

Stock #117773

"About a hundred years ago - not long - when the Tripods first appeared, they destroyed whole cities. Millions of people were killed or starved. And those that were left, the Tripods capped."

The Countess' (Pamela Salem) hat from the classic BBC sci-fi drama based on John Christopher’s book series, The Tripods (1984 – 1985).

The Earth has been conquered by an alien race known as the Masters, who patrol the land in giant Tripods. When humans reach the age of 16 they are ‘capped’, placing their minds under the control of the aliens. A group of young friends avoid being capped themselves, and go in search of a group of ‘free men’.

The Countess wore her hat briefly in season 1 when she played the piano and Eloise (Charlotte Long) sang. It is made with a brown plastic mesh, with a hole in the centre for Salem to place her head. It features a label from the costumier Irmelin Mayer.

There is some wear from age and storage, including some minor bending, but overall it remains in a very good condition.

Materials: Plastic, Ferrous Metals.
