A set of hand-drawn designs from the production of Richard Donner's 1978 superhero film Superman.

These six hand-drawn pages cover different designs showing possible options of how to film Superman and any flying supervillains (as seen in the sequel, Superman II) for landings in a manner that would allow them to walk away naturally. This set comes from the personal collection of Paul Weston, a stunt man and stunt coordinator in the first two Superman films as well as many other classic movies. Paul Weston was instrumental in designing and creating some of the revolutionary techniques and rigs for the legendary flying and acrobatic scenes for these Superman films.

The set comprises five images showing the breakdown of the proposed ‘wireless’ suspension rig and one image of the Man of Steel himself, all rendered in pencil on white paper. Two of the pages have been coloured in blue and red inks to highlight key elements of the rig. The images were all drawn by Paul Weston, with these images then copied for producers and heads of department, and were instrumental in creating some of the spectacular flying scenes used in the film. The set also contains a number of copies of the pages in the document style they were issued in during use on the production.

Displaying some wear from use including light creases at the edges, the set remains in overall very good condition.
