A pair of small panels from the Icarus II, used in the production of the 2007 Danny Boyle sci-fi thriller Sunshine.
Set in the year 2057, Capa (Cillian Murphy) and a team of astronauts are sent to ‘reboot’ the sun with a nuclear device after it begins to fail, putting Earth into an ice age. When a signal is picked up from their predecessor, the Icarus I, they set course for the lost ship to find out what happened to her crew and why her mission failed.
These panels and others like them were used to make up the exterior of the airlock where Capa and Kaneda (Hiroyuki Sanada) embark on a spacewalk to make repairs to the ship. The panels are made of plastic painted to look like metal. There is some wear from production, most notably in some of the corner where the plastic has bent and cracked, but they remain in an otherwise good condition.
