"Many of the characters and creations in Star Wars were destroyed in fiery conflict," the artists say. "Sometimes these have a haunting history, or they may be a forewarning of the fate of the galaxy. We wanted to capture that spirit with one of the saga's most famous weapons and one of its most infamous villains."
