X-Wing and TIE Fighter Supersnipe prints from the New York comic art gallery Supersnipe. Part-owned by George Lucas at the time of Star Wars’ release, Supersnipe was a gallery specializing in the illustrations of famous comics artists, and was one of the very first retailers to offer art prints to budding collectors in the wake of the film’s meteoric success. Four prints of artwork were offered by Supersnipe based on production artwork by concept artist Ralph McQuarrie and effects artist Joe Johnston.
One print, based on art by Johnston for the first Star Wars film, depicts TIE fighters flying over the surface of the Death Star. The second print is based on art by McQuarrie and depicts a set of TIE Fighters firing at an X-Wing. Both prints are rendered on thick off-white card and is unsigned.
The set shows minimal wear and remains in overall excellent condition.
