Star Wars - Ep IV - A New Hope

John Mollo Post Production Luke Skywalker Tracing Paper Design

Stock #110282

”I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.”

An original hand-traced pencil drawing by John Mollo, costume designer on George Lucas’ 1977 space opera Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

The Imperial Forces hold Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) hostage, in their efforts to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), captain of the Millennium Falcon, band together with R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) to rescue her.

This drawing is pencil on tracing paper, showing Luke Skywalker and his costume in full-length. At the bottom of the drawing is John Mollo’s signature. Luke’s head has been cut out of the main body of the tracing paper and stuck back in position, and to the left is taped an alternative sketch of his head, on a small square of tracing paper. This item bears some signs of age and storage, with some browning of the tape and a hard fold in the bottom right hand corner of the page.
