A set of reference photographs used in the production of the Star Wars trilogy.
Acquired from the collection of esteemed special effects artist Stuart Freeborn, these photographs formed part of a larger archive filled with references detailing the various creatures created for the Star Wars trilogy.
These photographs show the mask and hands of the alien Ellorrs Madak, one of the more recognisable creatures in the famed Mos Eisley cantina scene. The photographs show heads and hands presented on wooden bases in the stills – these display the mask from the front, left side and rear, with a shot showing two heads and two pairs of hands. A label marked “51” on white – signifying A New Hope in their labelling system for the photographs – is sat at the bottom of the base in each of the photographs.
Five shots in all, the photographs remain in very good condition and are supplied in their original plastic storage wallet. Each photograph measures 11cm x 8.5cm (4.5” x 3.5”).
