Two gorge jump matte paintings hand-painted by renowned matte artist Michele Moen for Alan Johnson's Solarbabies. Jason (Jason Patric), Terra (Jami Gertz), and their fellow orphans were forced to jump a gorge to evade the E-Police while chasing Daniel (Lukas Haas).
For the gorge-jumping sequence, these matte paintings were rendered by Moen in mixed media on metal-framed acrylic panel and particle board, respectively. The one depicting a hilly desertscape with three smokestacks and an unpainted town features a plaque at bottom with the film's name and strips of tape, one of which is hand-marked "1." The other depicts a desert gorge with a broken bridge on one side. Both exhibit paint marks, scuffs, and adhesive residue from production. Dimensions: (largest) 80" x 38" (203.25 cm x 96.5 cm)
