An evidence bag and letter from the production of Tomas Alfredson’s 2017 crime thriller The Snowman.
Based on Jo Nesbø’s novel of the same name, it follows the story of Detective Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender) as he investigates the identity of a serial killer who uses ominous-looking snowmen as his calling card.
A blue letter like this one appeared in an early scene where Harry was given a large stack of missed mail in the café – the letter was on the top, and he opened it with a knife to read. He consulted the letter later when investigating the disappearance of Britte Becker (Genevieve O’Reilly). Evidence bags were seen when Harry handed Gunnar Hagen (Ronan Vibert) one containing the Snowman’s blue letter during the party.
Addressed to Harry Hole at the Oslo police department, the letter is handwritten on blue paper and contained in a matching blue envelope. It carries a threatening note to ‘Mister Police’ in childlike language from the killer with a sad snowman sketch below. A Norwegian Thor Heyordahl Kon-Tiki stamp is affixed to the envelope.
The evidence bag is empty and made from clear plastic - it is large enough to hold an A4 envelope. It is printed with a barcode and features dedicated fields for detailed item information including authority, court exhibit number and names of people interacting with the evidence. The bag is marked as ‘Distributed by WA Products.’
Showing minor wear from use during production, each piece remains in very good condition.
