Seabiscuit

"The Admiral Surrenders?" Prop Newspaper

Stock #25325

A prop newspaper from the production of the 2003 Jeff Bridges drama, Seabiscuit. A similar copy of The Sun can be seen when Charles Howard (Jeff Bridges) tries repeatedly to provoke a race with the mocking New York tycoon Samuel Riddle (Eddie Jones) and his fearsome stallion "War Admiral."

The paper is dated October 23, 1938 and features several random news stories with the majority of the front page focused on Seabiscuit and the War Admiral. The headline β€œThe Admiral Surrenders?” runs across the top; accompanied by two large photos of the two horse with their jockeys. Additionally, the paper features interior pages that repeat the same stories on each side as they were not needed for filming, indicating that the paper was custom-made for the film.

The newspaper measures approximately 17” x 11.5” (43cm x 29cm) when folded horizontally at the crease and is in very good condition.
