A director's chair and Anthony Minghella, Richard Attenborough and cast chair backs from Steven Spielberg’s 1998 WWII drama Saving Private Ryan.
Director's chairs were used during the production by cast and crew members, with two of these chair backs designated to friends of Spielberg: namely renowned British film directors Anthony Minghella and Richard Attenborough, who was known to friends and family as ‘Lord Dickie’.
The frame of the foldable chair is made of wood, and it has a black linen seat. The chair backs are also made of black linen and feature the text ‘Anthony Minghella’, ‘Lord Dickie’ (both were V.I.P. visitors to set) and ‘Cast’ on one side, and ‘Saving Private Ryan’ on the other in printed white text. The chair and chair backs display signs of wear, including scratches to the paint, a bent footrest screw and folds across the chair backs.
