Charles Shaughnessy's (Robert Mitchum) jacket from the production of David Lean’s 1970 romantic drama Ryan’s Daughter.
This jacket was intended for use in the production but was ultimately not seen in the final cut of the film.
The light brown textured woollen jacket features four pockets with flaps and four mottled brown buttons run down the front. A M. Berman Ltd label reading “Robert Mitchum, Charles, Michael’s Day” is sewn into the jacket’s internal right breast pocket. 'Michael’s Day' was the original working title for the film.
The jacket displays light wear, and some staining and discolouration is present on the lining of both sleeves at the cuffs. However, in spite of this wear, the jacket remains in an overall very good condition.
