King Richard's Kite Style Shield

A shield used by King Richard the Lion Heart's men in the 2010 Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe movie: Robin Hood. This shield was used in various scenes throughout the movie, mainly by those loyal to England and King Richard's reign, also by French forces masquerading as members of the English Army. The shield is painted a deep red, with three horizontal yellow lions painted on and has been covered in a lacquer which protected the shield and has made it particularly glossy. It is a 'kite' shaped shield made from dense foam with a curved top, which has been covered in canvas. There is a leather arm strap on the back which is held in place by rivets that can be seen from the front as small round dents. The shield shows obvious production wear with some slight flaking but is otherwise in good condition and measures 92cm x 45cm (36.2"x 17.7").
