Road To Perdition

Michael Sullivan's (Tom Hanks) Signature Distressed Suit

Stock #94167

”There are many stories about Michael Sullivan. Some say he was a decent man. Some say there was no good in him at all. But I once spent 6 weeks on the road with him, in the winter of 1931. This is our story.”

Michael Sullivan’s (Tom Hanks) signature distressed suit from the production of Sam Mendes’ 2002 period crime drama Road to Perdition.

Michael Sullivan is a hitman for the mob working under the direction of gangster John Rooney (Paul Newman). During a hit, his son Michael (Tyler Hoechlin) witnesses what his father does for a living, and their lives are thrown into turmoil.

Sullivan wears this costume when he pays a visit to Alexander Rance (Dylan Baker), a mob accountant. However, the encounter is a set-up and it results in a gun fight between Sullivan and Harlen Maguire (Jude Law). Sullivan takes a bullet to the left arm as he makes his escape.

The entire costume consists of a suit jacket, shirt (with bloodied bullet hole on the left sleeve), pair of trousers, waistcoat, braces and a tie. The suit jacket and trousers are both made of coarse wool, while the shirt is cotton. As the outfit was custom designed for Tom Hanks none of the pieces have labels with a size, but the trousers do have one saying ‘Mr. Tom Hanks’.

The shirt has been intentionally distressed and is stained with fake blood around the wound. The piece has some other wear from production use and age, but it remains in an otherwise excellent condition.

Materials: Ferrous Metals, Man-Made Woven Fibres, Plastic.
