Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis

Mechanical Rat Puppet

Stock #19890

A mechanical rat puppet used in the 2005 horror film Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis. The rat can be seen in the film after the sinister scientist Uncle Charles (Peter Coyote) inadvertently reanimates a rat just as two hobos are about to feast upon it after roasting it.

The rat's exterior is made of foam latex, with its interior shell made out of a combination of foam, resin and metal joints. In addition, the rat has also been painted dark brown with black spots, giving it the look of being cooked and ready to eat. The face includes an open mouth displaying tiny, pointed teeth and an outstretched tongue. Also included with the mechanical body is the detached back left leg with the joint, both on the rat and on the leg, exhibiting detailed silicon torn muscles. Extending from the bottom of the puppet are 13 different long wires, which were once used to control the rats movements by puppeteers on set.

Due to production use and storage this item displays some light wear and small cracking in the foam latex but overall remains in good condition. This item measures 26" (66cm) long from mouth to tail, with the wire controls extending over 90" (228cm) in length.
