An original John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) knife custom-made by Jimmy Lile for George P. Cosmatos' action sequel Rambo: First Blood Part II. Rambo took his signature survival knife with him back to Vietnam on a mission to rescue captive prisoners of war.
Renowned knifesmith and designer Lile designed a custom knife for the film, and then created and delivered 10 numbered examples to production. This specific knife, #3 of 10, was originally gifted by Stallone to weapons consultant and technical advisor Tony Maffatone. It features a 25.4-cm saw-edged stainless steel blade finished in matte black, a spiked hilt, a black thread-wrapped grip, and a leather cord set into the machined steel butt. A compass is also built into the butt, while the ricasso is engraved "3 of 10/RAMBO/THE MISSION" (referring to the film's working title) and "LILE" on the reverse. "3" is believed to be the lowest number ever offered public sale. Also included are a sharpening stone and a right-handed black leather sheath stamped "Johnson Sheathery".
Screen-used Jimmy Lile knives are highly sought after by collectors. This knife is in good overall condition with minor wear to the hilt and grip, as well as some frayed leather from handling. A letter of provenance from the family of technical advisor Maffatone is included. Dimensions (sheathed): 43.25 cm x 9.5 cm x 3.25 cm (17" x 3 3/4" x 1 1/4")
Real bladed knife; see knife disclaimer in the Buyer's Guide.
