A control panel from the production of Ridley Scott’s 2012 sci-fi film Prometheus.
Led to a distant planet by ancient wall paintings, scientists Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) join a corporate sponsored mission to discover the source of life on Earth. But in the ruins of an alien space craft, the human explorers soon find that all is not as it seems, and a great threat lurks in its deep holds.
This panel and others like it were made for the production and can be seen on the walls of the Prometheus, the scientific vessel that takes the crew to the planet. These panels are positioned next to doors and are used by the crew to activate them. In the film they light up, and were stuck to light boxes to achieve this effect.
The piece is made of a translucent acrylic with a series of buttons of different colours cut into it. On the reverse there are a couple of sections where clear tape has been stuck to the panel. Despite showing some minor wear from production use, including some scuffs and scratches, the piece remains in an excellent condition.
