”Estelle” original stop-motion puppet from the Aardman Productions’ 2012 animated comedy film The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant) sets out on a mission to defeat his rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) for the Pirate of the year Award. The quest takes Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London.
Estelle can be seen taking a break from her piratey-escapades in the Blood Island tavern, ‘The Barnacles Face’. She is also featured in the audience of the Pirate of the Year Awards, looking astonished as it is revealed that the Pirate Captain received a royal pardon from pirate-hating Queen Victoria, resulting in him being stripped of his title as a pirate. Both Estelle’s head and large bicorn hat are resin with silicone skin, hair and headscarf. She features plasticine around her eyelids and pose-able eyes, as well as a removable mouth piece made from ‘Rapid Protoyped’ resin which would both have been adjusted and alternated in order to transform her expression. Her outfit has been made from foam latex, with the exception of the billowy hems of her trousers which are silicone. There are two metal plates located on the soles of her boots which allow for her to be positioned securely throughout filming. The body of this puppet has been constructed around an intricate internal steel skeleton for maximum manoeuvrability. There is a small amount of cracking around her elbows, Estelle remains in an otherwise excellent production-used condition.
Materials: Silicon, Foam, Ferrous Metals, Resin.
