Caroline can be seen seated in the audience of the Royal Society Event as scientist compete to win the coveted first prize for Scientific Discovery of the Year! In attempt to win ‘untold riches’ as promised by the crafty Charles Darwin, the Pirate Captain presents his beloved dodo Polly to an astonished crowd, causing poor Caroline to pass out! Her purple dress features elaborate lace detailing around the collar and cuffs, and a total of four layers in the underskirt, all made entirely from foam latex. Her skin and hair are silicone, and her head is resin with plasticine around her eyes and eyelids to allow for her expression to be varied. Her mouth piece is made from ‘Rapid Prototyped’ resin and would have been alternated during filming. Whilst Caroline is seated in the audience, we do not see her lower body and therefore she was constructed without legs. An intricate metal armature used to animate her upper body can be seen from underneath her skirt. A hole located in the back of the first layer of her skirt has made by puppeteers in order for her to be seated securely. There are a small number of tears in her dress, as well as a gap between her bodice and skirt, slightly exposing the foam of her underskirt, but she otherwise remains in good production used condition. Seated Caroline is presented on a bespoke display stand and measures approximately 29.5cm (11.5”) in height, with the stand measuring approximately 17.5 x 17.5cm (6.75 x 6.75”) around the base.

In The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It's a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they do battle with the pirate-hating Queen Victoria and team up with a young Charles Darwin, but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!
