An oversized hammerhead used in the 1982 film of the Pink Floyd concept album ‘The Wall’. Based on the music and visions of the band Pink Floyd, the film follows the story of the fictional rock star ‘Pink’ (Bob Geldof) who has been driven to insanity from past experiences and has created a metaphorical wall to protect himself from the world.
The hammer heads can be seen towards the end of the film when Pink addresses his crowd of followers; these hammer heads are attached to the stands holding the burning torches around the stage and in the crowd. Made of plaster with an internal metal support, the head is painted silver to resemble metal. The hammerhead comes beautifully presented in a custom built framed display with a brick effect laser-cut mount board featuring the classic movie title and a still from the film. The piece features some minor damage where the paint finish has chipped off to reveal white plaster. However, in spite of this wear, the item remains in very good condition and the display measures 71 cm x 43 cm (28” x 17”)
